Once you've joined the wellness portal, your program may include challenges that you can participate in.  The types of challenges that may be available to you include steps/activity challenges, nutrition challenges, weight loss, hydration challenges, and more.

Note:  Not all programs include challenges or a challenge may not currently be active.

You will find a list of challenges that you can join on the challenge page (Participate - Challenges).

Challenges have a start and end date and can either be team-based challenges or an individual challenge.

Some challenges will automatically include all registered individuals/teams on the site, while other challenges are optional and will require you to join manually.

Types of Challenges

Challenge icons can help you know what kind of challenge is being offered.  Find these in the challenge description:

Activity Tracker Challenge - track your activity within the challenge page or with any of the activity trackers on the portal.  All your activity on the site is linked so it doesn’t matter where you record your information, it will still contribute to the challenge!

Weight Loss Challenge - track your weight on the weight loss tracker page or any weight loss challenge page.  This challenge is generally paired with walking or other light activities.

Tracker Challenge - tracks specific health behaviors, like how much water you're drinking or how many vegetables you had, using health tracker icons for the challenge.

Wellness Score Challenge - Accrue points for tracking a certain number of steps, achieving a certain amount of weight loss, or tracking a certain behavior in addition to a multitude of other options such as posting a message or adding a buddy.  The variety and extent of the challenge will depend on your group's program.

Team Challenges

All Registered Teams - This challenge includes everyone and individuals will be divided into pre-configured teams.

Optional Teams - This challenge is optional and individuals will need to join a team in order to participate.

Team Score Calculations

If you're in a team challenge, know that scores can be calculated in two formats, totals or averages.

Total Points/Steps - means that the total points/steps for all users on the team count towards the team progress.

Average Points/Steps - means the total number of points/steps are divided by the total number of users on the team to get the average score. This method is used to allow teams of different sizes to compete fairly against each other.

Individual Challenges

All Registered - This challenge includes everyone and any member of the portal before and/or during the challenge will be automatically registered.

Optional Registered - This challenge is optional and individuals will need to join in order to participate.
